Lime, Almond and Coconut Cream Bundt Cake

Hello and happy Autumn from down South, and if it’s Spring where you’re at, I. AM. JEALOUS!

As you can tell by this somewhat Summer inspired cake, I don’t take well to the cold months.  So I live vicariously through my baking buds up North via Twitter and Instagram, and remind myself how lucky we are down here in South Africa, to have a mere four months of “real Winter”.

This year, I am embracing the cold with a brand new attitude.  I am taking on a new winter style of dress and zhushing up my wardrobe a  little.  I am treating myself… Continue reading

Raspberry Marshmallow Layer Cake – And A Blogiversary

I am only one month late in saying Happy 1 year Blogiversary Cup-a-Cake!

But rather late than never right!  What better way to celebrate my blog turning one year old, than with a beautiful, fluffy, raspberry layer cake covered with marshmallow frosting?  I have said it before and I’ll say it again, along with all of you – time sure does fly by!  And I am very proud to be celebrating one year of my blog being live and all the recipes I have shared with you.

Thanks to all of you for your support and cake love over the… Continue reading

Little Boy Blue Cupcakes

Someone is having a baby boy, don’t panic it’s not me.

It’s someone I don’t know.  I received an order request for baby shower cupcakes in blue, and these were the result.  So I wanted to share them with you along with the recipe and frosting technique in case you ever felt the need to give them a bash.  They really are easy to make and so lovely, guaranteed to be a hit with friends and family.

The colors of the frosting remind me of a soft-serve ice-cream and are so whimsical and lovely to look at.  The client who… Continue reading

Chocolate-Studded Bread

Pinch me.

That is how good this chocolate-studded bread is, simply dreamy!!

When I was a little younger, and working in my first job, my friend Wendy and I used to take turns to frequent the  bakery down the road from our office to buy chocolate croissants for breakfast.  These croissants were so heavenly, you actually cannot even imagine it unless you tasted one for real.  They were freshly baked every morning, used the best quality chocolate, they were not only topped with chocolate pieces, but stuffed with chocolate too.  We’d heat them up in the microwave and have them with coffee,… Continue reading

Baked Vanilla Donuts Dipped in Vanilla Cream Glaze

First things first.

Let’s get to who that sneaky little guy is peering around the donut corner.  His name is Donutasaurus, clever right?  Yes, it’s true, I am that much of a nerd that I named a pencil sharpener and popped him into my photo’s.  Well actually, my husband named him, I was less creative when it came to the right name for the little guy.  You see, I have developed this slight obsession with stationery.  I mean, I always loved stationery when I was younger and in school, and I always admired those fancy erasers and pencil cases and… Continue reading

Double Thick Baileys Cookie Crumb Milkshakes for St. Paddy’s Day

Think of this as a baking interlude, bottoms up…

It’s been a pretty long time since I had a milkshake.  I mean, I drink dom predros every now and again, but not milkshakes, and boy did I forget how good they are, especially on a hot Summers day.  This particular shake is the best of both, it’s a milkshake, and it’s got Baileys in it so it’s kind of like an over-indulgent pedro.  These shakes pack a serious punch when it comes to all things naughty and nice and are the perfect excuse to blend up for St. Patricks Day!

When I was busy… Continue reading

Bailey’s Chocolate Baked Cheesecake for St. Patricks Day

I can’t belive it’s almost St. Patrick’s Day AGAIN!

There is no doubt that the older we get the faster time goes, and I am pretty sure I have said that in a previous blog post so time flying by and age may be accompanied by repetition too.  So with Valentines Day having recently passed, and the next occasion being that of the Irish, it’s time to bring out the Baileys Irish Cream!  Speaking of Irish, and having recently watched the Academy Awards and celebrating my very favourite Actor winning for Lincoln, we decided to have a Daniel Day-Lewis movie… Continue reading

Cappuccino and Toblerone Chocolate Chunk Muffins

Excuse me while I share one of the simplest yet most DEE-licious muffin recipes with you.

You see, “stuff’s” been a little complicated lately, and I have certainly been in need of two of my favourite things after a long week, coffee and chocolate – Yes!

One of my very favourite baked treats is a cappuccino muffin with chocolate chips or chunks.  Having returned from a glorious holiday in the Western Cape last week, I hadn’t had too much time to firstly consider my next blog recipe, nor had I had a lot of time to shop for supplies.  So I decided to… Continue reading
